WINCHESTER .22 (LONG RIFLE) MODEL '1885 LOW-WALL' SINGLE-SHOT RIFLE, serial no. 98927, for 1910, 24 1/2in. nitro barrel, Lyman tunnel fore-sight, rear sights removed, the top of the barrel roll-stamped 'MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A. PAT. OCT. 7. 1879.', fitted with an unsigned vintage brass telescopic sight in Winchester mounts, top-tang fitted with a Lyman folding peep-sight, the top-tang stamped 'PAT. OCT. 7TH 79. - WINCHESTER. - TRADE MARK.', slab-sided low-wall receiver of later form with rounded falling block, the triggerguard forming the underlever and operating the falling block and central hammer, retaining some blued finish and traces of colour-hardening, walnut butt-stock (cracked at head), 13 1/4in. pull including chequered steel buttplate, splinter fore-end with horn finial, weight 6lb 13oz.
