USA' over 'BALLARD'S PATENT NOV 5 1861', scrolled under-lever, central hammer, later adjustable peep-sight to wrist, walnut butt-stock with chequered hard rubber 'Marlin' monogrammed heel-plate and smooth splinter fore-end with schnabel tip
