circa 1840, with two-stage 6in. barrel, the top flat near breech marked 'SMITH'S IMPROVED REPEATER', bead fore-sight, no provision for rear-sight, plain six-shot cylinder with border engraved front edge, full nipple-guard, rounded scroll engraved iron frame with central bar-hammer and guarded trigger, finely chequered walnut grips and engraved back-strap and pommel-cap, together with its probable original case compartmented and lined in green baize, 'Thomas Smith, No3 Bridge Street London' parchment label inside lid and including a period oil bottle, cap tin, loading rod and scissors mould
