A SCARCE EARLY 32-BORE PERCUSSION POCKET-PISTOL, no visible serial number
circa 1810, with round turn-off 1 1/2in. blued barrel, broad engraved band at muzzle, narrow milled band at join, squared boxlock action engraved with borders and acanthus scrolls, the signature within engraved ovals reading 'GILLET' on the left and 'BRISTOL' on the right, engraved central hammer with flat-faced nose, sliding safe to the top-strap, pseudo frizzen to hold the cap, concealed folding trigger (repaired) and walnut finely chequered bag-shaped butt with silver lion mask pommel-cap and rectangular escutcheon at the wrist, traces of colour, mainspring broken or absent
