possibly Belgian or Russian circa 1830, with iron 9in. octagonal to round barrel, solid top-tang, military style lock signed 'A. BARREN' at the tail and with cyrillic markings below the pan, ringed top-jaw screw, brass pan, walnut half-stock, iron full-length back-strap, brass rounded spurless pommel, iron trigger-plate with brass bow, brass nose-cap joined to the side-bar plate and iron ramrod, the butt drilled through for a lanyard
