dated for 1871, with 36 1/2in. blued barrel, block and blade fore-sight, ladder rear-sight, flip-open breech-block marked 'WD' with a broad arrow, sprung locking catch, plain military-style lock signed 'ENFIELD' together with the date and a 'VR' crown device at tail, chained firing-pin protector, walnut three-quarter stock, the butt with 'ENFIELD' circular stamp, brass furniture, three iron barrel-bands and jag-ended clearing rod under the barrel, much finish and colour remaining
