A RARE 16-BORE FLINTLOCK BRASS-BARRELLED COACHING BLUNDERBUSS WITH INSCRIBED MUZZLE, no visible serial number,
circa 1760, with 16 1/2in. two-stage barrel, moulded band at junction with short flashes engraved to the flats, the top-flat signed 'BOROUGH LONDON', the muzzle flat engraved 'HAPPY IS HE THAT ESCAPETH ME', private proofs and makers mark 'IS' along with an engraved ball-band at breech, iron top-tang, bevel-edge step-tailed unbridled lock signed 'SANDERS' (rubbed), sliding safe behind the hammer, walnut full-stock with chequered wrist, engraved brass furniture with acorn finial, and brass mounted ramrod (stock cracked through rear side-nail and along ramrod channel)
