A SHINTO TANTO BLADE IN A SHIRASAYA,
circa 1700, the 13in. blade signed Hiromasa, with a chozi haman (partly obscured, some minor stains), full-length broad and narrow fullers, silver reeded habaki and contained within a plain shirasaya
Provenance: This tanto was given to the vendor's Great Great Uncle, the Admiral Sir Edward Seymour by the Emperor of Japan in 1906 . The Admiral was part of a Mission led by Prince Arthur to present the Order of the Garter to the Emperor
