HARTFORD, CONN.', the breech marked 'NEW MODEL 1859', plain receiver with vertical dropping standing breech, back-action lockplate with large external hammer, the lock marked 'R.S. LAWRENCE PAT APRIL 12th 1859' and 'C SHARPS PAT OCT 5th 1852', straight hand walnut butt-stock with semi crescent heel-plate, iron patch-box to right hand side, iron finger-lever, walnut three-quarter fore-end affixed with three iron barrel-bands and bayonet lug beneath muzzle
