A 12-BORE SELF-OPENING SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 17097,
for 1901, 28in. replacement nitro chopperlump barrels by the makers (in 1955), the rib engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. ENGLAND.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. choke in both, toplever engraved '2', removable striker discs, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, arrow cocking-indicators, best fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, retaining traces of renewed colour-hardening and finish, 14 3/4in. figured historic replacement stock including 1 1/4in. wooden extension, matching fore-end wood, weight 6lb. 5oz.

Choke: Plain & Very Modified
Stock: 14 1/8in.
Notes:
Out in black, 1900
27th November 1916: Stocks shortened to 13 3/4in. and front triggers made loose
February 1922: Purchased by us and resold to Mr. S. Roberts on 4th July 1922. Silver's recoil-pads fitted to lengthen to 14 5/8in. Chambers increased to 2 5/8in.
January 1955: Repurchased by us and had new 28in. barrels fitted, choked 1/2 and Choke.
5th July 1956: Right choke reduced to Improved Cylinder
