A RARE .41 RIMFIRE VEST-PISTOL, MODEL 'COLT'S FIRST PATTERN No3 DERRINGER' or 'THUER'S PATENT', no visible serial number,
late first production circa 1870-71, with Birmingham proved 2 1/2in. barrel signed 'COLT' in italic letters on the top (refinished, now faded), open nickel-plated moulded brass frame with raised bolster around the hinge-screw (strong traces of plate remaining), exposed hammer with upright spur, spur trigger and strongly curved birdshead butt fitted with smooth walnut grips
