AN EXTREMELY RARE 26.5mm ALL-BRASS DOUBLE-BARRELLED FLARE-PISTOL, MODEL 'AUFLOSUNG DEUTSCHE LEUCHTPISTOLEN-SAMMLUNG M1899', serial no. 905,
translating as 'Double-Marine Flare Gun Mod 1899', manufactured for the German Imperial Navy, with break-open 5 1/4in. brass barrels, exaggerated moulded bands at muzzles, with locking rod and chequered brass double push-piece for release, boxlock single-trigger action with domed circular side-plates and exposed iron hammers with chequered spurs, smooth wood grips, the heel finely engraved 'AW.W.14' over '905', overall length 11in., weight approximately 5lbs.
