A 50-BORE PERCUSSION RIFLED DOUBLE-BARRELLED OVER-UNDER OVERCOAT PISTOL, no visible serial number,
circa 1840, with octagonal slab-sided 3 1/2in. micro-rifled barrels, carved false side-ribs, dove-tailed fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, the top-flat of barrel marked 'NORTHALLERTON', carved snails with platinum vents, borderline engraved top-tang, borderline engraved back-action locks signed 'CHARLES SPENCER', sliding safes behind the borderline engraved hammers, chequered walnut butt of Irish form, clipped-corner silver escutcheon to wrist, guarded double triggers (rear replaced) and captive iron ramrod, iron surfaces stained with some pitting.
