A .577 PATTERN 1853 ARTILLERY CARBINE, CIRCA 1860, no visible serial number,
with 24in. barrel rifled with five grooves, stamped with both Liege Ordnance and Birmingham proofs at breech, replacement blade and block front-sight, replacement fixed vee rear-sight, replacement bayonet lug at muzzle, the lock stamped with the Crown 'V.R.' cypher on the tail and dated 1860 to the centre with small Ordnance inspection stamp, all correct for Liege contract lock arms, regulation brass mounted walnut stock the butt bearing the triple circle Liege first class roundel, both barrel bands incorrect replacements
