circa 1900, the number crudely added later, with 28in. tapering round barrel, raised applied matted top-rib with dove-tailed fore-sight and three flush folding leaf rear-sight with fixed standing notch (originally also equipped with a ladder, now absent), border and scroll engraved receiver also with engraved panels of lions hunting game, side safe and cocking indicator, chequered walnut butt-stock with white metal escutcheon to the comb, iron heel-plate missing its central trapdoor, short under-lever with a chequered panel, engraved trigger-guard bow, chequered walnut splinter fore-end with horn tip and fitted with eyelets for sling, traces of original finish
