dated for 1868 and a licenced copy of the similar product by Remington, with 37 1/4in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, plain receiver with rolling breech-block and central hammer, walnut straight-hand butt-stock stamped '12B' over '2738' at heel, iron heel-plate, walnut three-quarter fore-end (blind crack to upper edge of receiver) with three iron barrel-bands, iron clearing rod and bayonet bar and lug to right-hand side of muzzle, strong traces of finish
