A RARE .577 (SNIDER) BREECH-LOADING CARBINE, MODEL 'PROTOTYPICAL ALBINI-BRAENDLIN' serial no. 4420,
dated for 1868, with reblued 19in. barrel, the top signed just forwards of the breech 'H. HOLL' over '98' (remainder rubbed and obscured), dove-tailed fore-sight blade, standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves flip up breech-block hinged at the front, the top marked 'ALBINI BRAENDLIN' over 'PATENT' (traces only remaining), borderline engraved bar-action lock with the date and a crown to tail, walnut full-stock of artillery carbine style with brass furniture and two iron barrel-bands and correct ramrod

Provenance: This carbine conforms to A. Albini & F.A. Braendlin's patent no. 2652 of October 13th, 1866. It was later re-modelled and became the standard Belgian infantry rifle
