circa 1900, with round 10 1/2in. barrel signed in gilt 'STE. STEPHANOISE D'ARMES ST ETIENNE', dove-tailed beaded-blade fore-sight, colour hardened and straw-finished elevating tangent rear-sight, scroll engraved slab-sided receiver with rotating loading tap for ball and external hammer, detachable reservoir under the barrel (bearing the serial number), chequered walnut grips with domed iron pommel fitted with central finial, spurred trigger-guard and adjustable trigger, retaining virtually all of its apparently original blued finish
