A FINE CASED PAIR OF 25-BORE SINGLE-SHOT RIFLED PERCUSSION OFFICERS PISTOLS,
circa 1845, with re-browned micro-rifled octagonal 9 1/2in. sighted barrels, the top-flat signed 'J. D. DOUGALL, ARGYLE ARCADE, GLASGOW', border and scroll engraved colour-hardened breeches and tangs, border and scroll engraved colour-hardened bar-action locks signed 'J. D. DOUGALL', sliding safetys behind the hammers, walnut half-stocks with chequered grips and flat based flared butts, blued steel spurred trigger-guards, silver take-down wedge escutcheons and forend tips and under-barrel ribs with original ramrods, both pistols with much original finish except barrels, TOGETHER WITH their original brass re-inforced mahogany, compartmented case lined in green baize (reproduction label for the Gordon Street address) and complete with a number of contemporary, possibly original accessories including a three-way copper-bodied powder-flask, scissors ball-mould, oil bottle and nipple key, the lid of the case with a brass ring handle (some compartments loose)
