circa 1790, converted to percussion circa 1850, with browned two-stage 32 1/2in. barrel, the breech-end signed 'DANIEL SCARLETT, SWAFFHAM, NORFOLK', gold line to breech-block, scroll engraved top-tang, scroll and border engrave slightly curved bevel-edged step tailed lockplate signed 'DANIEL SCARLETT, SWAFFHAM' around the pan aperture, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, rectangular silver escutcheon behind top-tang, border and florally engraved iron furniture, two take-down wedges with silver escutcheons, white-metal forend cap and original ramrod (finish faded, old inlet repair to comb) TOGETHER WITH a period re-lined compartmented oak case with flush-fitting brass handle to the lid and containing a circular-bodied powder flask, a leather shot flask, period cap tin and some wads
