A 40-BORE FLINTLOCK 'QUEEN-ANNE' POCKET-PISTOL, no visible serial number,
circa 1740, with banded rapid taper 1 3/4in. turn-off cannon barrel (frozen), border engraved octagonal breech, the underside signed 'JAMES FREEMAN', engraved applied top-tang signed 'LONDINI', boxlock side-hammer action with recumbent 'L' shaped frizzen-spring (mainspring at fault, cock cracked at neck, missing sliding safe from behind the cock), bulbous bag-shaped walnut grip carved with tear-drops (small loss to head on lock-side), plain iron side-plate, white metal escutcheon to wrist engraved with a dog's head, white metal leopard's head grotesque mask butt-cap with florally carved tail and square-backed trigger-guard
