A SCARCE .21 BARREL-COCKING AIR-RIFLE, MODEL '1', serial no. 318,
being a third variant circa 1877-78, with push-in heavy diameter nickel-plated 17in. smoothbore barrel, provision for bead fore-sight (missing), octagonal receiver originally stained blue-brown but now frosted and thinning marked 'H.M. QUACKENBUSH'S PAT. JUNE 6 1876', walnut straight hand butt-stock with plated crescent heel-plate and guarded trigger (trigger action at fault), retaining much original nickel plate to barrel
