A 12-BORE 1887 PATENT 'ROUND-ACTION' TRIGGERPLATE-ACTION EJECTOR, serial no. 4765,
for 1895, 28in. nitro reproved fine damascus barrels (rib slightly loose), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/2 choke, Dickson patent round-action incorporating patents 9399 and 10621 of 1887, use number 543, left-opening toplever, cocking-indicator studs, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, articulated front trigger, profusely engraved with bold acanthus scrollwork and with scrolling banners engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON PATENT' to the sides, bright finish, 15 1/4in. figured stock (likely replacement), weight 6lb. 7oz., in its makers leather case

Provenance: This gun is accompanied by a transcription of the makers records stating that the gun was made for a W.S. Bell Esq., as a '...best hammerless 12 bore gun, pistol hand stock cast off for left hander', and was manufactured on 9th September, 1895
