A SUBSTANTIAL 10-BORE FLINTLOCK IRON-BARRELLED BLUNDERBUSS, no visible serial number,
manufactured for the Colonial market circa 1860, with strongly flared heavy walled 26 1/4in. iron barrel, solid top-tang with rounded tip, borderline engraved lock of military style signed 'COOPER & GOODMAN' below the pan, heavy ring-necked cock, bridled pan, walnut full-stock of musketoon proportions fitted with military style brass furniture, the left side of wrist below comb deliberately cut with an unexplained short groove, rear of fore-end bored through for a swivel mount (absent, witness depression from use to underside) and probable replacement iron ramrod, overall length 42 1/2in., weight approximately 19 1/2lbs.
