A 12-BORE SELF-OPENING SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 17370,
28 7/8in. nitro chopperlump barrels, rib engraved '1' and 'J. PURDEY & SONS.' (the remainder worn illegible), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, self-opening action, toplever engraved '1', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, 'arrow' cocking-indicators, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, brushed bright, pins reblued, 14 1/4in. figured stock (possible replacement) including 3/4in. rubber recoil pad, weight 6lb. 12oz., in its makers brass-cornered oak and leather case

Notes:
Out in black, 1901
Goldney is noted as having died in April 1920
Record is then over-written, stating the gun was owned by a Major Robinson of Cosham, dated 25th May 1923. May have been restocked to match another gun at that time.
1970s: barrels shortened, choke made Tight Cyl & Mod

Sir John Tankerville Goldney (15 June 1846 – 11 April 1920) was a British barrister who rose to be Chief Justice of Trinidad and Tobago, and was also High Sheriff of Wiltshire in 1910. He is also notable for introducing golf to Singapore in 1891.
