A RARE .44 PERCUSSION REVOLVER, MODEL 'COLT'S 2nd MODEL DRAGOON', serial no. 9471,
for 1851, with round 7 1/2in. barrel with octagonal breech-section, the top signed 'ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY', nickel fore-sight, rear-sight notch to the hammer-nose, plain cylinder with roll-engraved Indian scene, squared locking notches, open iron frame marked 'COLTS PATENT', brass grip-straps and square-backed trigger-guard, smooth walnut one-piece grip and hinged under-barrel rammer, adapted in its working life to accept a shoulder stock by the addition of a squared iron loop attached to the top of wrist behind the hammer and a rectangular socket cut in the back-strap (stock absent) traces of finish in sheltered areas, some mild external pitting and bruising, all matching numbers except un-numbered wedge
