circa 1870, with octagonal 23 1/4in. barrel, ramp fore-sight with dove-tailed blade, graduated ramp rear-sight with sliding standing notch, short action with automatic load ramp opened by a guarded front trigger and cocked via a large thumb-lever, the top of receiver with dot-punched border and stipple engraving, walnut full-stock with raised cheek-piece, chequered wrist (worn smooth) and sliding wooden lidded patch-box, iron furniture, iron tipped wood clearing rod and stirrup swivels
