AN ORNATE AND ORIGINAL DAYAK MANDAU HEADHUNTER'S SWORD, late 19th/early 20th Century, with 20 in. hand forged single-edged steel blade of typical form, hand engraved on one side, the back with decorative cuts and splits, set into a highly decorated and hand-carved bone hilt embellished with tufts of black hair, together with its palm wood scabbard, painted to the front and decorated with further tufts of hair, some staining and surface rust to the blade, and splitting to the lower part of the hilt, 29 in. overall
