A FRENCH .44 PERCUSSION CANNON BARRELLED PISTOL CONVERTED FROM FLINTLOCK SIGNED BONAND, CIRCA 1750 , no visible serial number, 4 1/2 in. three stage turnoff cannon barrel with some foliate engraved decoration at the breech, the lock of rounded flintlock form signed 'BONARD' to centre (faint) iron mounted walnut half-stock with birdshead grip decorated with silver wire inlay, the mounts include an iron butt-cap engraved with the features of a birds head, the trigger-guard with long stylised finial and long stylised sideplate, this fine pistol was originally made circa 1750 as a quality gun, converted to percussion circa 1840, in very good sharp condition with excellent stock metalwork to a blue / grey patina
