A 50-BORE BOX-LOCK PERCUSSION PISTOL, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number, circa 1830 conversion of a circa 1810 flintlock, with 3 1/2 in. steel turn-off barrel, border and scroll-engraved box-lock, dolphin hammer, drop-down trigger, slab-sided wooden butt with blank square escutcheon, Birmingham proof-marks, barrel frozen, metalwork stained with some pitting, butt a poorly-fitted replacement, 8 1/4 in. overall
