AN INTERESTING .577-450 MARTINI HENRY VOLUNTEER CAVALRY CARBINE, CIRCA 1880, no visible serial number with 19 1/2 in. barrel stamped with London proofs at the breech, block and blade front-sight an unusual L shaped leaf rear-sight which is original to the gun, the action plain and unmarked, two piece iron mounted full walnut stock, the forend with two barrel bands, although London proofed the style of this carbine suggest manufacture at Steyr, probably for the S. African market, a tidy gun with good untouched stock, barrel and action to a brown patina some staining and speckling
