JOSEPH LANG & SONS 12-BORE 1878 PATENT PUSH-FORWARD UNDERLEVER TRIGGERPLATE-ACTION LEVER-COCKING SNAP-ACTION SIDEPLATED HAMMERLESS NON-EJECTOR GUN, serial no. 4495, circa 1880, 28in. sleeved nitro barrels (in 1973), the rib engraved 'JOSEPH LANG & SONS. 22 COCKSPUR STREET, PALL MALL, LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. in both, Lang patent triggerplate action, patent no. 545 of 9th February 1878 with removable striker discs, carved serpentine fences, Lang patent automatic lever safety, patent no. 133 of 11th January 1879, with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, push-forward underlever, action, sideplate and furniture engraved with bouquet and scroll engraving, 14 1/4in. pistolgrip stock including steel buttplate (fore-end wood with hole around barrel loop, repair to left overhorn), weight 6lb. 10oz.
