A GERMAN STAATSBEAMTER DRESS SWORD
believed to be a 'marriage' with blade circa 1800 and later hilt in the style of a Staatsbeamter (civil servant), blade 30 1/4in., double-fullered, finely engraved on both sides with martial symbols and scroll-work incorporating 'P. KNECHT' to one side and 'SOLINGEN' to the other, with this wording also repeated on the ricasso, losely set into a brass hilt with lion-head pommel linked by chain to an acorn finial on the cross-guard, blade with rust-patches, edge nicks and tip rounded, no scabbard, 35 1/2in. overall
