"Regarding story with the silver model of Her Majesty, The Royal Marines have an annual regimental dinner at Horse Guards parade in London hosted by Her Majesty The Queen. Just over 100 years ago the Royal Marines had a stering silver model of Queen Victoria in her diamond jubilee regalia made and presented it at top table for the annual dinner. Having recently celebrated the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee (in 2012), The Royal Marines decided to follow the tradition and commissioned a model of Her Majesty in her Diamond Jubilee regalia. The sterling silver model was presented on 4th June when she hosted their annual dinner.
The project was extremely high profile so we didn't want to take any chances and therefore made two models just in case we experienced a problem, hence the second model!! The sale of the model was in 2014." Gil Holt, Anthony Holt & Sons
