circa 1860, with broad fullered curving 24in. blade false edged for the last 7 1/2in, brass 'D' shaped knuckle-bow with single rolled quillion to the cross-guard, the centre of guard with push-button scabbard lock, the top of bow engraved '57', ribbed fishskin covered wood grip (wire binding absent, small losses to covering) and 'tea-cosy' pommel, complete with its black leather brass mounted scabbard, the locket engraved '57'
