circa 1890, with 27 1/2in. octagonal barrel signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO LONDON', dove-tailed beaded blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, the left side of barrel marked 'FOR .300 CARTRIDGE', the top of barrel at breech marked 'METFORD RIFLING' and with the maker's triangular trademark, open central hammer colour hardened frame with side-lever opening, the left side signed as above, tang sight fitted to the wrist from another, walnut chequered pistol-grip butt-stock, ribbed heel, guarded plain trigger and snap-on chequered walnut splinter fore-end (losses to top-rear corners), the whole retaining strong amounts of original finish and colour
