A RARE 54-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-ACTION REVOLVER, MODEL 'REEVE'S PATENT', serial no. 1022,
conforming to patent 1623 of July 19, 1858, with 6 1/4in. octagonal barrel (much original finish), dove-tailed fore-sight, the top-strap unsigned but engraved with a scrolled border, standing notch back-sight to rear, plain five-shot cylinder with rope-carved band to leading edge (much blued finish), borderline and scroll engraved solid frame with dove-tailed side-plate, the left hand side marked 'PATENT and also fitted with a white metal nipple guard, spurred hammer, chequered one-piece semi saw-handled walnut grip, brushed bright loading lever mounted to left hand side of barrel and pull-down release for cylinder arbor (action at fault)
