circa 1780, with browned twist 16in. barrels, the top-rib with gilded signature 'D. EGG LONDON', silver boat-shaped fore-sight, twin gold lines at breech, slightly curved bevel edged stepped tail locks with gold poincons (renewed) signed 'D. Egg', gilded pan bowls, roller frizzens, gilt touch-holes, engraved top-tang, walnut half-stock with dot and chequerboard chequering at wrist, replaced iron heel-plate with inlet around top-spur, oversize trigger guard bow, later chequering of the same style as the wrist to fore-end, and original brass mounted ramrod
