A PAIR OF 15-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-SHOT RIFLED OFFICERS PISTOLS, MODEL 1846
circa 1850, with etched twist-steel 8in. octagonal, micro-rifled barrels, bead fore-sights and notch rearsights, breech-ends stamped with '1846' and the letters 'M. R.', plain back-action locks signed ' MANUF. RLE. DE. CHATELLERAULT, CASTEX', chequered walnut half-stocks with flared butts, iron butt-caps with lanyard rings, spurred trigger-guards, iron forend caps and bronze-tipped ramrods (both pistols with surface corrosion, traces of colour throughout)
