A FINE CASED 12-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN, serial no. 5973,
circa 1845, with re-browned 30in. damascus barrels, the top-rib engraved in script 'T. E. MORTIMER, LATE ST JAMES ST. LONDON', bead fore-sight, platinum plugs, scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved locks (brushed bright) with a game scene of dogs hunting birds on the right hand side and dogs flushing birds on the left, 'C'-bodied scroll-engraved dolphin headed hammers, figured walnut stock (re-finished) chequered at the wrist and forend, long-spurred scroll engraved iron heel-plate, border and scroll engraved trigger-guard, and and finial, with a pair of hunting dogs engraved on the bow, scroll engraved ramrod throat and original ramrod, TOGETHER WITH a period 'JOHN DICKSON & SON' labelled oak compartmented case lined in tan morocco leather with cross-hatch embossing and containing nearly a full complement of accessories including period shot and powder flasks, turn-screws, nipple key, pricker and a reproduction snail-capper
