circa 1855, with 30in. barrels, wide sighted rib signed 'JOHN HAYTON GRAHAMSTOWN 3257' in a cartouche of scrolls with seven-leaf platinum lined express rearsight (one folding leaf missing), the front portion of rib graduated in inches to 20in., dove-tailed bead foresight, scroll engraved breech end and long tang, bar-action scroll engraved locks signed 'J HAYTON', figured walnut chequered half-stock (possible re-stock) with large hinged patch-box on the right hand side engraved with scrolls and a standing tiger, spurred heel plate with scroll engraving, scroll and border engraved pistol-grip trigger-guard, serial number to tang, twin set triggers with adjustment screws to the floorplate, ornate engraved finial and ramrod throat, and replacement brass tipped ramrod
