A SCARCE .700 PERCUSSION SERVICE-RIFLE, MODEL '1843 RUSSIAN BRUNSWICK', serial no. 5226 - WITH BAYONET,
circa 1845, with plain round twist-iron 30in. browned two-groove barrel, applied blade fore-sight, elevating tangent rear-sight, knock-off breech, plain top-tang, plain back-action lock with border engraved hammer, walnut full-stock (hairline crack at hand) with heavy brass furniture including patchbox (numbered inside lid), heel-plate (engraved with the double headed Russian Eagle), oval escutcheon to wrist engraved with a crowned monogram, trigger-guard, the lower tang with finger-spur and ramrod pipes, iron ramrod and stirrup swivels (strong traces of original faded colour throughout) and complete with its correct pattern sword bayonet signed by the same maker numbered 615 (no scabbard)
