A 12-BORE 'ROYAL' SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 16056,
for 1893, 28 7/16in. nitro reproved barrels (shortened), the rib engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98 NEW BOND STREET. LONDON.' (rubbed), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, toplever engraved 'PATENT EJECTOR', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, Beesley patent ejectors, patent no. 20979 of 31st December 1889, best bold acanthus scroll engraving interspersed with foliate motifs and with beaded bordering and on a matted background, the fences carved with a grape and vine design, the underside with an elaborate cartouche engraved 'ROYAL EJECTOR - PATENT 20979', brushed and reblued finish overall, 16in. figured stock including 2 1/2in. wooden extension (inked to match), fore-end with minor losses to wood, weight 6lb. 11oz.
