fitted for 30in. barrels, the interior lined with red baize (moth damage), a 'Holland & Holland' trade label, removable upper tier fitted for the first gun, the lower tier fitted for the second gun, brass lock (key missing), the lid exterior with a central brass plaque marked 'JOHN E. ELLIS SCALBY NEAR SCARBOROUGH'

Provenance: Research would indicate John E. Ellis to be John Edward Ellis (15 October 1841 – 5 December 1910), a Liberal politician and British colliery owner, who served as Under-Secretary of State for India in Henry Campbell-Bannerman's Liberal government
