English circa 1845, with browned 37 1/2in. single barrel turning off at the centre behind an applied collar, octagonal hooked breech, full-length plain iron top-tang, plain back-action lock with side-hammer, fenced nipple, short walnut wrist and fore-arm, the rear of wrist mounted with a folding wire stock equipped with a broad iron heel-plate, the front of fore-arm fitted with a flat metal plate with sprung locking catch for barrel, guarded trigger and fair traces of possible original finish
