for 1833, with 29in. laminated and browned barrels, the top-rib re-engraved with 'I. PURDEY No. 314 1/2 OXFORD STREET. LONDON', white metal fore-sight, engraved rib-end and platinum line and vented plugs at breech, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, borderline and scroll engraved bar-action locks signed 'PURDEY', scroll engraved hammers, figured walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist (expertly repaired crack below left lock-bar) and with rectangular clipped-corner escutcheon behind top-tang, iron furniture (engraved detail rubbed) and brass-mounted mahogany ramrod

Provenance: Patrick Unsworth's book 'The Early Purdeys' lists gun no. 2372 as a 29in. 17-bore completed on October 18th 1833 with a price of £55
