probably German and converted to percussion, with browned, heavy 36in. octagonal barrel, white metal dove-tailed fore-sight, dove-tailed standing leaf rear-sight with long extension foot, engraved colour hardened breech-block with carved and moulded snail and integral engraved top-tang, borderline engraved lock with nipple guard operating on the original frizzen spring, scroll engraved tail, scroll engraved hammer, French walnut full-stock with carved raised cheek-piece, skip-chequered wrist and fore-end inlaid with white metal nails at the points, en-suite sliding lid to the patch-box, engraved iron furniture including scrolled lower tang, double set triggers, swivels for sling and replacement ramrod
