A BRASS-MOUNTED TWO-TIER OAK AND LEATHER TRIPLE GUNCASE,
fitted for 30in. barrels, the interior lined with red baize, with a James Purdey & Sons trade label, with a Breech-Loading gun label for serial numbers 15432 / 3 / 17272, removable oak baize-line top tier fitted for three sets of barrels, the lower tier fitted for three sets of stocks and accessories, two brass clasp locks, a central lock (key missing), the lid exterior embossed with 'CAPT. CHRISTIAN COMBE' with a central brass escutcheon marked '63 CADOGAN SQUARE S.W.'

Provenance: Captain Christian Combe, born 1858 was in the Royal Horse Guards. His London town house was at Cadogan Square but in addition he owned Cranbourne Court, Windsor Forest, Berks and Strathconan, Muir of Ord, Rosshire in Scotland. He died in 1940.
