for 1919, with 24in. octagonal barrel signed by the maker on the left hand top-flat and with patents to 1879, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, buckhorn rear-sight, calibre designation near breech, slab-sided receiver with central falling breech-block and hammer, top-tang marked 'REG. IN U.S. PAT OFF. WINCHESTER TRADE MARK', walnut butt-stock with crescent heel-plate, under-lever opener forming the trigger-guard and walnut splinter fore-end with inlet ebony tip, the whole lightly cleaned of finish, overall length 40 5/8in., weight approximately 6 1/2lbs.
