A GOOD .650 PERCUSSION LANCER'S PISTOL FOR THE EAST INDIA GOVERNMENT SIGNED BIRMINGHAM, serial no. 242,
dated for 1869, with blued round 8in. barrel, applied boat-shaped blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, ordnance proofs at breech, colour hardened plain lock marked 'BIRMINGHAM' together with the date on the bar, the tail with queens crown over a broad arrow over 'E.I.G', blued hammer, walnut full-stock with brass furniture including numbered butt-cap with lanyard ring, the wood at heel stamped 'FA 3 1885', brass trigger guard and flared ramrod pipe, the left cheek of stock stamped with an 'E.I.G BIRMINGHAM' roundel and 'JOSEPH SMITH' (contractor) and captive iron pan-head ramrod, the whole in fine original condition with light storage marks only, overall length 14 1/2in., weight approximately 2 1/2lbs.
